Clint Koenig, M.D., MA, MSPH - Medical Director

As Medical Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Dr. Clint Koenig advises the Director of Health on clinical and medical issues as the agency fulfills its mission to protect and improve the health of all Ohioans.

 

Dr. Koenig has proven experience in the transformation of healthcare delivery in multiple settings, including public health, primary care, multi-specialty clinics, managed care and care coordination. He has served in several leadership roles within managed care organizations, federally qualified health centers and substance use centers and promoting practice transformation. He also previously served as State Medical Director for the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services where he served as physician liaison and adviser to the Health Commissioner.

 

He has experience serving on a local public health board, and has served as a physician surveyor for the National Committee For Quality Assurance, the leading accreditation agency for managed care agencies and patient-centered medical homes. He also previously served as Associate Residency Director of the Family Practice Residency Program at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

 

Dr. Koenig received bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and in history from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a medical doctorate degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y.; completed his medical internship at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland; and completed residency training in family and community medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia where he also received master’s degrees in public health and in journalism. He is the author of numerous medical publications and reviews.
