Local Injury Prevention Funding

Through the CDC's Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant (PHHSBG), the Injury Prevention Program provides funding annually to 10 local programs addressing  injury. The goal of this grant program is to reduce injury and injury-related deaths to Ohioans through the development of comprehensive, multi-faceted, population-based programs at the local level that address the risks associated with leading causes of injury.

The projects are focused on developing an injury prevention program in one of the following injury priority areas:

Projects address these injuries through a comprehensive public health approach that includes:

  • Coalition building
  • Needs assessment and injury surveillance
  • Environmental and systems change
  • Policy development and change
  • Training and education
  • Media campaigns and public information
