Make Your Smile Count! Dental Check

The Make Your Smile Count! dental check is being conducted by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). Sixty-five schools have been selected for participation. With parental consent, 3rd grade students in the selected schools are being checked for cavities, fillings, dental sealants and the need for dental care. Data collection will be completed this Fall. Make Your Smile Count! is one of the most important components of the department's oral health surveillance program. Because tooth decay and other oral health problems are not reportable conditions, collecting these data first-hand is the best way for the department to monitor trends, measure the impact of dental disease prevention efforts and target resources to Ohio's children.
