Details About OPAS Data

Researchers may request Ohio OPAS data for birth/survey 2016.  Please keep in mind that due to the complex design of the survey, specialized statistical software for analysis is necessary.

2016 OPAS variable list and codebook are found at the links below:

2016 Variable List

2016 Codebook

Details on survey methodology are available on request.

Analysis note: ODH believes it is acceptable to make comparisons between OPAS and PRAMS data. OPAS has the same target population as PRAMS, and once weighted, both surveys should be making inferences to similar populations of new Ohio mothers. Furthermore, OPAS is using PRAMS questions in order to support comparisons between OPAS and PRAMS data. Trends over time can be assessed using the same questions from OPAS and PRAMS. ODH recommends using confidence intervals to reflect precision of estimates from OPAS and PRAMS surveys. ODH also recommends use of 1 decimal place to support the level of precision of the survey estimates.
