Center for Public Health Statistics and Informatics (CPHSI)
Purpose: Health data are a valuable resource critical to meeting ODH strategic and programmatic needs. ODH requires a centralized area responsible for overseeing the collection, analysis, dissemination and use of health data to support the mission of protecting and promoting the health of Ohioans. Furthermore, as funds are reduced, it is critical to efficiently collect and manage health information, including through electronic health information exchange, which is essential to reduce health system costs both private and public.
Mission: To improve the timeliness, quality and efficiency of health information collection, analysis, use and dissemination to protect and promote the health of all Ohioans.
Vision:
- All ODH and Ohio strategic health planning, policy development and performance improvement will be driven by health data.
- All ODH information systems will be developed and maintained to maximally utilize existing system structures and health information already collected, at ODH as well as health information exchanges and other sources, to reduce costs for ODH and our partners and increase the quality of Ohio’s health information.
- Ohio's health professionals and other residents will have timely access to the health information they need in the desired format and context to use to maximally protect and promote the health of all Ohioans.
Center Culture:
The Center is customer focused and transparent. We have open communication, mutual respect and trust among Center personnel and internal/external customers and partners. The Center is under the larger umbrella of the Office of Performance Improvement.
