Center’s Deputy Director. Oversees all projects and initiatives focused on the goal of improving health information for internal ODH and external customers.

Brian Fowler, MPH (brian.fowler@odh.ohio.gov)

Chief of the Situational Monitoring and Event Detection (SMED) Unit. In coordination with local health departments, the unit detects and tracks health events such as influenza, outbreaks, and environmental exposures by monitoring and analyzing real-time data sources relevant to the health of Ohioans. Examples of real-time or near-real time data sources include hospital emergency department registration data and over-the-counter drugs sales. Early detection, tracking and characterization of health events allows public health authorities to quickly implement control measures to prevent and reduce morbidity.

Epidemiology Project Manager. Manage Maternal Child Health epidemiology projects and project director/PI for Ohio Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS).

Lynn Giljahn, MPH (lynn.giljahn@odh.ohio.gov)

Oversees the Center’s partnership with the Office of Management Information Systems, to assure information systems are planned and implemented to maximize interoperability and, where possible, utilize and adhere to standards-based electronic information exchange.

Nathan Huskey, MPH (Nathan.huskey@odh.oiho.gov)

The Center’s enterprise focused Business Analyst, works in partnership with the Office of Information Systems (OMIS) on cross cutting agency initiatives to improve efficiency and identify gaps in services provided by ODH data systems, opportunities for integration, and reduces redundant data and systems.  Some of the primary initiatives include projects in the following areas; Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Electronic messaging, and master data management.

John Paulson, M.S. (John.paulson@odh.ohio.gov)

Data Analysis manager over Vital Statistics data including birth and death data.  Charged with promoting data analysis standardization to facilitate integration of data for county profiles, Health People 2020, birth and death public and secure modules for customer self service using analytic software tools.

Bill Ramsini, Ph.D. (bill.ramsini@odh.ohio.gov)

Project manager. Hospital charges and utilization reports, Ohio Family Health Surveys, and State Systems Development Initiative.

Kaliyah Shaheen, MPH (kaliyah.shaheen@odh.ohio.gov)

Data Research and Dissemination Manager. Oversees all activities and initiatives for public reporting of hospital performance data including the Hospital Compare public website (coming January 2010). Charged with improving the usability and ease of the public website as it related to data reports and electronic data systems.

Holly Sobotka, MS (Holly.sobotka@odh.ohio.gov)

Serves as the acting chief of the Chronic Disease and Behavioral Epidemiology Section. The Chronic Disease and Behavioral Epidemiology (CDBE) section provides data and analyses on the burden of chronic diseases and associated health behaviors to identify current and emerging public health problems; monitor trends; and develop, manage and evaluate public health programs and policies.  To support the goals of the CPHSI, the CDBE section plans to contribute to the comprehensive assessment of ODH data processes and needs; assist in the coordination of health information collection, analysis and dissemination; and participate in the planning and implementation of Ohio Healthy People 2020 indicators, among other activities.
