Community Health Care Facilities & Services Functions.

Community Health Care Facilities and Services functions include:

  • Conducting on-site survey visits to health care providers and suppliers participating in or applying to participate in the federal Medicare program.
  • Conducting on-site inspections of health care providers and suppliers who are either licensed by the Ohio Department of Health as a health care facility or subject to the statute and rules set forth for health care services in the state of Ohio. These providers or suppliers may or may not be concurrently regulated under both federal Medicare and state standards.
  • Conducting on-site inspection of applicants or licensed operators of adult family homes (3-5 residents), adult group homes (6-16 residents), and community alternative homes (residence of 3-5 individuals with AIDS or AIDS-related conditions).
  • Conducting on-site inspection of hospital-based maternity units, maternity homes, and freestanding birthing centers for compliance with state licensure requirements and, in the case of an acute hospital-based unit, the requirements set forth for operation of an obstetrical and/or newborn service within that hospital.
  • Certification that a health maintenance organization authorized to operate as a health insuring corporation in Ohio by the superintendent of insurance meets or exceeds the requirements for member access to care and capacity to provide quality of care. Conducting on-site examination of corporate offices and selected provider sites on a triennial basis.
