Zoonotic Diseases

For an overview of what animal diseases should be reported to what agency, refer to the Ohio Animal and Zoonotic Disease Reporting Reference.

·         In general, only human cases of zoonotic diseases require reporting to local health departments. The exception is rabies in animals, where rabies positive animals are reported.

·         Refer to the Infectious Disease Control Manual (IDCM) for specific reporting requirements for humans.

·         For specifics on reporting of animal diseases, contact the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Industry.
