For an overview of what animal diseases should be reported to what agency, refer to the Ohio Animal and Zoonotic Disease Reporting Reference.

·         In general, only human cases of zoonotic diseases require reporting to local health departments.  The exception is rabies in animals, where rabies positive animals are reported.

·         Refer to the Infectious Disease Control Manual (IDCM) for specific reporting requirements for humans.  For specifics on reporting of animal diseases, contact the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Industry.
