Agricultural Labor Camps
Overview
Agricultural labor camps are regulated by the Ohio Department of Health under the authority of Chapter 3733 of the Ohio Revised Code. "Agricultural labor camp" means one or more buildings, trailers, tents or vehicles, together with any land appertaining thereto, established, operated or used as temporary living quarters for two or more families or five or more persons intending to engage in or engaged in agriculture or related food processing, whether occupancy is by rent, lease or mutual agreement. Agricultural labor camps are subject to the rules as specified in Chapter 3701-33 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
Services
Assist employers in the regulatory process of developing new agricultural labor camps • Plan review and approval of new or extensively altered agricultural labor camps • Licensure of agricultural labor camps • Inspection of agricultural labor camps to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements • Investigation of reported unlicensed agricultural labor camps • Investigation of reported rule violations in licensed agricultural labor camps • Establish criteria for voluntary standards for agricultural labor camps in cooperation with the agricultural labor camp advisory committee (assembled whenever voluntary standards review is required).
License fees
The annual license fee is $75.00 plus $10.00 per each housing unit, if received by April 15. For late applications received on or after April 15, the license fee is $100.00 plus $15.00 per each housing unit.
