
Certification The objective of the Ohio Department of Health’s Certification in Food Protection Program is to educate and train food service personnel on effective food safety programs for preventing foodborne illness. The voluntary program, is overseen by the Director of Health with recommendations from the Retail Food Safety Advisory Board. The Director of Health is responsible for approving certification in food protection courses and certifying individuals in food protection who successfully complete an approved course of study in the State of Questions regarding the program should be directed to the food safety staff.
