Camps: Recreation/RV Parks

Overview

Recreational vehicle (RV) parks, recreation camps (campgrounds), combined park-camps, and temporary park-camps in Ohio are regulated under the authority of Chapter 3733. of the Ohio Revised Code. A recreational vehicle park is defined as any tract of land used for parking five or more self-contained recreational vehicles. A recreation camp means any tract of land upon which five or more portable camping units are placed. Such facilities are subject to the rules for construction, layout, drainage, sanitation, safety, and operation as specified in Chapter 3701-25 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

Services

  • Policy and procedural guidance to local health department administration and staff for the implementation of the recreational vehicle park and campground regulatory programs.
     
  • Training programs in recreational vehicle park and recreation camp licensing and inspection for local health department sanitarians.
     
  • Review and approval of plans for the development, construction, alteration or expansion of recreational vehicle parks and recreation camps.
     
  • Technical assistance to RV park and campground industry representatives and associations.
     
  • Consultation and assistance to the general public on RV park and campground issues, including complaint investigation.
     
  • Periodic survey of local health department licensing programs to assure that such programs are being conducted in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio Administrative Code.
