Early Intervention

The birth to 3 programs (Early Intervention Programs), Welcome Home, Ohio Early Start, and Early Intervention have been consolidated into the Help Me Grow program. The Help Me Grow program, a communication and public awareness initiative for wellness programs at the Ohio Department of Health, now includes several birth to 3 children’s programs in one consolidated initiative.

Help Me Grow

Help Me Grow is a program that provides prenatal services and newborn home visits along with information about child development. The program helps families with young children connect with resources they need. The program provides service coordination and ongoing specialized services to those families that are eligible.

Another feature of the Help Me Grow program is a statewide advertising campaign to encourage prenatal and well-baby care. Wellness guides can be obtained by calling the Help Me Grow information and referral line. Anyone, including family members, can make a referral to Help Me Grow. The toll-free information and referral helpline number is 1-800-755-GROW.

Help Me Grow also provides services to children birth through age 3 with disabilities. This part of the program ensures children from birth to age 3 with developmental delays and disabilities have access to and receive needed intervention services.

Help Me Grow Policies

Ohio’s Help Me Grow program is administered by the Bureau of Early Intervention Services, Ohio Department of Health. It is the responsibility of the Bureau, with the advice and input from the Ohio Help Me Grow Advisory Council, to develop and distribute information on policies and procedures related to the operation of Help Me Grow.

The Ohio Department of Health, in accordance with P.L. 108-446, Part C, Programs for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities, is conducting three public hearings to receive input on the Help Me Grow Draft Policies/Rules
