PRAMS: Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System
The Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is a population-based survey that asks about maternal behaviors and experiences before, during and after a woman’s pregnancy and during the early infancy of her child. PRAMS was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 1987. Ohio has participated in PRAMS since April 1999. These findings will be used to develop and assess public health programs and policies to reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes. PRAMS staff collect data through questionnaires mailed to approximately 200 new mothers each month.
