Eligibility
Women who are eligible for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP) screening and diagnostic services are those who live in households with incomes below 200% of the poverty level. The women must also be uninsured.
Age guidelines must be met, as well. To get a Pap test and pelvic exam, the women must be at least 40 years of age. Women less than 40 can check with their local family planning centers or health departments to see if Pap tests are given there for free or at a reduced cost.
To qualify for a mammogram, women must be age 50 or older. Once a woman turns 65, she will most likely have Medicare part B, which pays for mammograms and Pap tests. If a woman is 65 and older but does not have Medicare Part B, she could be eligible for the BCCP.
