WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program(FMNP)
The WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is a dual purpose program which benefits both WIC participants and farmers. In the program, WIC participants are given five $3 coupons with which to purchase authorized fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from authorized farmers at farmers’ markets and farmstands.
During fiscal year 2008, Ohio received $504,464 in federal funding, which allowed 32,083 participants to receive farmers' market benefits. In all, 307 farmers and 118 farmstands were authorized in 47 counties.
