The School-based Fluoride Mouthrinse ProgramThe School-based Fluoride Mouthrinse Program helps prevent tooth decay and is targeted primarily to elementary schools in communities without adequate fluoride in the water as well as those in very low income areas. Once a week, students (with parental consent) swish a 0.2 percent solution of sodium fluoride in their mouths for one minute. The School-Based Fluoride Mouthrinse (FMR) Program At-A-Glance 2007 provides details about the program and a map showing the number of schools participating in each county. The Fluoride Mouthrinse Program Manual contains information for school administrators and personnel, FMR coordinators and parents about program guidelines and procedures and includes program forms.
