| OPTIONS Grants
The mission of Dental OPTIONS (the Ohio Partnership To Improve Oral health through access to Needed Services) is to assist Ohioans with special health care needs and/or financial barriers to obtain dental care. The OPTIONS grants assist local agencies in referring individuals to dental care programs in their communities or, when no other local programs exist, to dentists participating in the OPTIONS program. Eligible patients are matched with volunteer OPTIONS dentists who have agreed to discount their fees. The program is administered via grants awarded to four agencies for regional administration (see list of funded agencies).
Grants are awarded on a five-year cycle; the next competitive cycle begins in State Fiscal Year 2011 (applications due in April 2011 for grant funding to begin July 2011). A one-page synopsis about the OPTIONS program is available.
