Oral Health and Access to Dental Care for Ohioans, 2007 reports data from several surveys on the ability of adults and children to obtain dental care.  An updated executive summary featuring data from the 2008 Ohio Family Health Survey and the 2006 Behavioral Risk Factor Survey is also available.

Make Your Smile Count! A Survey of the Oral Health of Ohio Schoolchildren, 2004-05  reports the oral health status of Ohio schoolchildren, including county-level estimates of several oral health measures.    

Historical Reports

Access to Dental Care in Ohio, 2000 presents data from the 1998-99 oral health survey of Ohio schoolchildren (including county-level estimates) and discusses access to dental care.  An executive summary is also available.

Oral Health in America: A Report of the Surgeon General was issued in May 2000.  This report discusses the silent epidemic of oral and dental diseases and calls for a national effort to improve oral health among all Americans.

Healthy People 2010 sets forth goals and objectives for the nation's improved health, and includes the statistical basis for each objective and guidance for its implementation.  

Does Oral Health Matter? is a publication issued in 2005 from the Health Policy Institute of Ohio (HPIO) that discusses oral health in Ohio and the United States.

The Report of the Ohio Dental Workforce Roundtable summarizes a series of roundtable discussions held throughout 2005 by the HPIO in partnership with the Ohio Department of Health.  Participants provided input on how best to utilize Ohio's oral health workforce to address the oral health needs of its most vulnerable residents.

Recommendations of the Ohio Task Force on Access to Dental Care - 2004 
highlights accomplishments since the initiation of task force deliberations and issues recommendations for 2004.

Recommendations of the Ohio Task Force on Access to Dental Care - 2000
summarizes the efforts of a broad-based task force to recommend policies to improve access to dental care for vulnerable Ohioans.
