Disaster Preparedness & Response
We provide a health response network for assistance in natural and manmade disasters that occur in the state of Ohio. Additionally, we are recipients of a 5-year (1999-2004) Federal Bio-terrorism Preparedness Cooperative Agreement from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) to help Ohio plan a health response to a nuclear, biological or chemical incident.
Our Goals:
- Strengthen Local Health Department’s capacity to respond to natural or manmade disasters.
- Provide state guidance in comprehensive disaster planning with public health focus.
- Develop functional state capacity for planning, activities, and workforce readiness related to disaster response.
- Establish the Health Alert Network (HAN) – a public health communication system of training and technology linking all key players in the event of a disaster (e.g., Bio-terrorism incident.)
