Certified Radiation Expert
The Radiologic Technology Section provides certification to individuals who meet the qualifications to become an Ohio certified radiation expert in the following categories:
- Therapeutic;
- Diagnostic, other than mammography; and
- Mammography.
According to rule, all hospitals are required to have a certified radiation expert specific to the radiological service provider.
Responsibilities A certified radiation expert as designated by each hospital registrant is responsible for the following:
- developing and providing oversight and maintenance of quality assurance programs for hospital registrants;
- performing quarterly reviews of the quality assurance program and submitting the reviews to the hospital quality assurance committee; and
- performing annual audit reports of the quality assurance program on a form provided by the Ohio Department of Health; submitting the audit reports to the hospital quality assurance committee within thirty days of completing the audit; and filing the audit reports to the director of Health within ninety days of the audit.
Application Fees (Effective 12/1/2003) Certified radiation application fees are one hundred dollars ($100) for each certification category.
