Indoor Radon

The Indoor Radon program operates a collaborative federal indoor radon grant in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and a network of local health departments within the State of Ohio.

With federal funds, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has been able to develop and implement an extensive indoor radon program serving the residents of Ohio, utilizing resources at both the state and local level.

Elevated levels of indoor radon, above the guidelines published by the U.S. EPA, is the primary cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.

Additional information about indoor radon, including the potential health risks, sources of indoor radon and radon facts, may be found on the Ohio Radon Information System Web site. This web site is maintained by the University of Toledo and is located at: http://radon.utoledo.edu/.

You may also call the ODH toll-free number at 1–800-523-4439. This phone number is staffed from 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays.
