May 29, 2009 - The Bureau of Radiation Protection has listed two draft X-ray rules on the Ohio Department of Health's Web site for comment: Definitions Rule 3701:1-66-01 and General Administration Rule 3701:1-66-02. April 09, 2009 - Amendments to rules in Chapter 3701:1-38 of the Ohio Administrative Code (rules 3701:1-38-01, -10, -12, -21) have been finalized. These rules contain a new definition of “Total Effective Dose Equivalent” and new requirements for reporting dose to occupational radiation workers.
Also, the following rules in Chapters 3701:1-40 and 3701:1-46 of the Ohio Administrative Code have been rescinded. The rules were rescinded due to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) new jurisdiction over naturally occurring or accelerator-produced radioactive material. This new federal jurisdiction requires Ohio to amend or rescind rules dealing with exempt radioactive material. The NRC retains the sole regulatory authority over the distribution of exempt radioactive material.
