GXMO Examination

After successfully completing a GXMO didactic educational program, an application, application fee of $65 and a copy of the certificate issued by the didactic educational program, or transcript if enrolled in an Ohio accredited radiography program must be submitted to ODH.

ODH will send the applicant a letter granting eligibility to take the state GXMO examination. Enclosed with the letter is a form to register for the examination, and a study guide. The original examination registration form must be submitted to the Cleveland Clinic by the exam registration deadline on the form. The cost of the examination is $80.

The state examination is given once a month and rotates through the following four cities: Columbus, Canton, Dayton, Lima.

Exam Dates

Upon completion of the examination, the Cleveland Clinic will send a complimentary notification of test scores. Official notification comes from ODH within four to six weeks of the test date.

In addition to completing an accredited didactic educational program, prior to issuance of a GXMO license, an individual must have at least four hours of supervised clinical assignments on how to perform the radiologic procedures within the licensed practitioner's scope of practice. If the GXMO is applying to operate digital equipment, a copy of the clinical course certificate, or signed affidavit from the radiography program director must be submitted to ODH.
