Federal Facilities
Technical Support, through an agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) and, in cooperation with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), provides health physics technical assistance, assessment and surveillance at USDOE's Mound, Fernald and Portsmouth facilites. Technical Support evaluates the cleanup activities to ensure these sites meet Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 3748 requirements.
Through a grant from the USDOE through the Ohio EPA, staff provides health physics technical assistance for the cleanup of radioactive materials at Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) sites. Technical Support evaluates the cleanup activities to ensure these sites meet ORC 3748 requirements.
Technical Support staff inspects and tracks all transuranics and high-level radioactive waste shipments across the state. Staff members attend public meetings to provide radiological health information to the public relating to the decommissioning or surveying of sites in Ohio.
