Orientation for Nurses New to Ohio Schools
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) offers an orientation for Registered Nurses who have less than two years of experience working in schools and who have not previously attended an orientation. Registration for the 2016 conference will be open the summer.
Ohio Department of Health Annual Regional Conferences
Each spring, the ODH School Nursing program offers a conference in three regions of the state. These conferences provide up-to-date information for nurses working in Ohio school settings. Registration information for the 2016 regional conferences is now available here.
Epinephrine Autoinjectors in Ohio Schools: A Train-the-Trainer for School Nurses
The ODH School Nursing program is pleased to offer this train-the-trainer program for nurses and other licensed health professionals. The goal of this course is that nurses working in the school setting will be able to work with the school administration to implement Substitute House Bill 296. Asthma Education: A Train-the-Trainer for Ohio School Nurses
This is a one-day conference offered Wednesday, June 15, 2016 to provide nurses working in the school setting an update on asthma and asthma education programs for use in schools. The training will include Asthma Education and tools to implement a School Asthma Program using American Lung Association (ALA) Programs Open Airways and Asthma 1-2-3. Online Continuing Education Independent Study Opportunities for Nurses
The School Nursing program is pleased to offer continuing nursing education opportunities for nurses licensed by the Ohio Board of Nursing. These online independent study courses cover a range of topics including medication administration, human trafficking, ImpactSIIS, vision and hearing screening techniques and others. Medication Administration in Ohio Schools: Training for School Personnel is currently unavailable. It is being revised and updated. Information will be shared at this site as well as on the ODH School Nurse Bulletin Board when the independent study is once again available.
