Current Rates of Immunization
Ohio’s childhood immunization coverage rates, as measured through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Immunization Survey (NIS), are used by the Ohio Department of Health Immunization Program for statewide program planning and policy development. Tracking changes in immunization coverage rates allows the State to measure its progress toward meeting the Healthy People 2010 goal of increasing immunization rates against vaccine-preventable diseases among children 0-2 years of age.
Antigen-specific and series completion rates for children 19-35 months of age from 2000 through 2007 for Ohio are provided in the table below. Survey results for the previous year are usually available by the fall of each year. The 2008 survey results should become available to states by late 2009. For information on the NIS methodology, go to http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/stats-surv/imz-coverage.htm#nis.
