Date: September 28, 2017
Time: 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Location: Ohio Department of Transportation, 1980 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio

The theme for the 2017 Ohio Tobacco conference is Generation Tobacco Free. The conference is focused entirely on preventing youth from initiating tobacco use through evidence-based policy, systems, and environmental change strategies. Research shows that tobacco use begins almost exclusively before age 21. Nearly nine out of ten smokers first tried cigarettes by age 18, and 99% first tried cigarettes by age 26.

Preventing tobacco initiation among youth is one of the most important ways to curb tobacco use and its detrimental health consequences. To accomplish this, evidence-based practice dictates that efforts should focus on interventions and media to counter pro-tobacco marketing, on restricting youth access, and on increasing the price of tobacco products.

This year’s event will take place on September 28, 2017 at a new location, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), 1980 W. Broad Street in Columbus. The facility has an on-site cafeteria, a rather large (free!) parking lot and traffic congestion is considerably reduced in the surrounding areas (when compared to our previous location). We are excited to have the opportunity to reduce or eliminate these past inconveniences for our repeat, as well as new, guests.

There is no charge to attend the conference.
